Hi! My name is Sophia Ziehr and I am from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. As of right now, I plan to major in either environmental sciences or psychology and minor in German. I learned about the UW Rebels and Revolutions study abroad program through emails and pamphlets. I decided to apply because I love travelling and this program is unique. Being able to take classes with a small group of freshmen before the semester starts was very intriguing to me. This program is a great introduction to college because working directly with a professor I will be able to thoroughly understand the expectation of college coursework. I’m very excited to be able to learn about Ireland’s complicated history at the source. Learning about Irish history while being in Ireland will allow me to connect with the content and gain a greater understanding than I would from reading a book and class discussions. The benefits of this program are great, from getting to know other students before school starts to establishing a relationship with a professor as a new freshman. I will certainly have an advantage over other freshman, having already taken a course at UW Madison and learning study and work expectations.
