Howdy! My name is Anna Michalski and I have the complete honor of participating in this program along with 16 other incredible students, and one stellar professor (hopefully calling him that will get me some sort of extra credit.) My hometown is Oregon, Wisconsin, which is a suburb of Madison. I have basically grown up on the campus of UW-Madison and am thrilled to now be a part of it as a student. I am so excited to be able to start my journey with this program.

At home I have two dogs, named Willow (who I call “Wormie” because she is gross) and Joey (who I call “Joseph” because he is a fancy boy.) I am devastated to have to leave them, but I hope to visit them at home often or potentially smuggle them into my dorm. In high school, I was a big DECA girl, as well as being very involved in music programs. I play both the piano and the cello and hope to continue both instruments as hobbies at UW-Madison. I have two sisters, who I love dearly. My older sister, Julia, will be a junior at Carroll University. My twin sister, Sophie, will be a freshman with me at UW-Madison!

Right now I’m technically a history major, but I tell everyone political science because I’m indecisive and have been considering changing it. In any case I love history, particularly pre-Soviet Russian studies.
I have always loved to travel and was even considering attending a university abroad, however the study abroad opportunities at Madison were incredible enough to convince me to stay. All the travel I have previously done was for leisure, my favorite destination being Australia. In the future, I can’t wait to visit my current unexplainable obsession: Yosemite. Something about those big old rocks just really speaks to me.
In this program, I hope to gain an idea of what college will be like, while also exploring a new country. I’m excited to build connections and friendships with my peers that will hopefully last for years to come. I can’t wait to relive the Ireland glory days in a decade or so. I feel so grateful that this program can be my transition into college.
