Greetings! My name is Rae Johnson and I am super excited to be a badger at UW-Madison. My hometown, Milton, WI, is fairly small, so I am definitely ready to tackle the bigger city lifestyle. My goal during these next four years academically is to double major in environmental studies and real estate and land economics. On the other hand, my goals as a whole during my time at Madison are to broaden my social connections, step outside my comfort zone, and embrace the school spirit to the best of my ability.
During our time in Ireland I hope to piece together connections read in the book “Say Nothing”, which we read before our departure for Ireland. I am excited to get a deeper understanding and expand my knowledge of the Irish culture. I believe being in a hands on environment will embrace my desire to learn and help in the process of remembering my experience in Ireland.
One of the reasons I was so interested in the UW Rebels and Revolution program was due to the passion of traveling my father institutionalized within me. Ever since I was in fourth grade, my father and I have traveled outside the country for approximately two weeks. In total, we have conquered 17 countries and seeing this great study abroad opportunity at Madison, I could hardly pass it up. I have traveled through school programs during my high school experience, but none had true academic purposes, more so for touristy attractions. Therefore, I am ready for this new experience and couldn’t be more excited!
